SHIFTKEY is one of those little utilities that you may or may not
need at the moment. It is a one-line statement meant for an autoexec file
(but may be used in any batch file) that allows the user a choice to run
another file by holding down a function key while the computer is booting
up and then return to the original bootup procedure or batch file. The user
is prompted to press a function key. If no action is taken in five seconds,
a normal boot takes place or the batch file continues.
The file to be run may be a program file, a batch file, or even a DOS
command. Optional TSR's may also be loaded as SHIFTKEY is purged from memory.
prior to running the designated file, thus eliminating any "hole in memory."
(This works only in the autoexec file.) The function key is user definable
from F1 to F10. SHIFTKEY may be used more than once in the same autoexec or
batch file using the same or different function keys in each instance.
For directions, type "SHIFTKEY" without any parameters.
